100 tanker cars on fire... |

Upon hearing every tanker in my county called for 100 tanker cars on fire I knew this was bad. Looking up on the way to my car I was confused as to why there were clouds all of the sudden. As I drove closer to East Palestine I could see that was smoke not clouds. It was about 9:51 PM the crew and head end power were stopped under the route 51 bridge. They would soon blast off (almost literally) back to Conway. At about this time the Sherriff was going door to door getting people out. A sickly moldy smell that made me not cough but not able to breath came over the town. I knew it was about time to leave. It was so surreal seeing this town Ive been to many times thrown into absolute chaos. It was almost 11 PM at this point and there were cars and people everywhere. It was around this time when all fire units were told to swiftly evacuate. I knew then I was seeing something I had never experienced or thought possible before. |
